finally I am back to say hi.... been a very busy woman!

Hi just came to say that finally I have the time to sit here and blog.... I have lots to show you as since i last blogged....
I have renovated my house here are some pictures of the work in progress
and would you believe that now i cant get the pic to down load .......

well here is the new pantry cupboards and the other are slowly getting put together... you can see the tiled floors newly laid, they were originally in 3 layers of carpet... and several tonnes of dust

life has been a bit stressful with no kitchen ...... as this is what we started with just a kitchen sink for a few weeks while every thing was under construction and being demolished ... oh what fun... we had pieces of Chip board for benches while my dear friend Ernie made me from recycled floor boards my bench tops ... they look great now
he  fixed up many other little things for me while here.... a big thanks to my dear friend.
During this I also had a new bedroom added and a large proportion of the front veranda enclosed and  this has created a big family room and dinning area. Cutting a hole from the old kitchen to the dinning area.... busy place and the electricians came and rewired the whole house .....

oh no wonder that work sounded like a good place to be ...then I was talked in to a new job, have gone back to being a chef, and manager of a catering department and now working 5-6 days a week.

My daughter and myself then decided that we could lay click lock flooring down this room that is some 13 meters long... we made it to the end will show them in the next entry.

more pictures of the floods

Here is a picture of the road to Dongara... will be while before it will be open! might have to go the long way around to get to work on Wednesday - Friday.
here is a panoramic view you may need to click on it to see better

you can see a man wading across it was about 2.5 feet deep and flowing quiet fast.the level has dropped some 5/6foot over night.

This is the view to the Grenough Hamlet, another way to town..... this water is flowing very fast and is still flowing around the town when this was taken at 10am

the paddock on the right is one large sheet of water that is moving.

I have just been told that the road are reopening, with care, the helicopters are going over every few hours assessing the situation. So I guess my days at home are over and its back to work tomorrow...

I did get busy and this is what I have done today

finished all the QAG block to be sent to Qlds.
and that box of strips is still full..

. I have also been working on a scrap braid quilt out of the box
here is a picture, still need the last strip stitched on, it will be a knee/snuggle quilt for the lounge for when an if winter comes, as much as it has rained and flooded here it is 36oC and the humidity is so high.
I have started a postage stamp quilt, have joined about 60 strip together and then have to join them again and again then some more ..... long way to go on that one!

thanks for dropping in ..take care

The water flows and we are isolated...

As I am sitting here we are waiting for the river to peek here in town. The are very good at saving the town here they have been building levy banks today across the main road as this is the major flooding point at one end of town.... you can see the town sign on the other side of the levy bank in the picture.
This has cut us of from Geraldton, they are putting up a levy on the main road at the bridge at the other end of town here are some pictures of the water as it half of the expected level.

I am not going to get to work for a few days.... oh how sad I can sit at my sewing machine and catch up with something that I like doing.
work for me is 27km down this road....

the water level shows 14.7mtrs and rising.

this is the view looking up the river, yesterday this was a dry river bed!

,While the water was busy flowing I have been busy sewing I have made my Christmas partners block and when the roads are open will send it to her, here is a snippet of what she will be getting

stay safe talk to you SOON

quilt as you go!

Over the last few days I have been doing some quilt as you go blocks to send over to Queensland.
I came home from work one day a little cheesed off with the world and started cutting up strips and well.................
then I worked out that I needed 35 square for a quilt and then the fun began....
I was surprised at the vast array of colours that came out of the box!!
Might I say that the box is still full... not sure what happens during the night I am sure that it multiplies!!!!!!

time to lay out a few block to see what they look like together... mm they say that cats and dogs like to lay on your quilts but really..  the DD also!!!!!

then the new member of the family our little Jack Russell cross joined the party!

I then decided that I had better pack them up, and the two dogs want one block each!! and they did pull a face when they had the patch pulled out from under them.

I have just a few more to finish and then they will be packed up and sent on there way ....

My daughter has taken up sewing and has made her first mug rug... she says its for her Grandma,  she even quilted it!
here is a picture of it.

I have been make a few mug rugs also
here are mine!

I have been having lots of fun making these.

stay safe
thanks for dropping bye, do leave me a comment if you like

My new toy!!!

Well after some sole searching and looking, dreaming and not been so sure as to what I wanted. I did finally go out and buy  a new sewing machine, after 25 years!!  so here is some pictures of it! has made sewing much easier! no more strange seams that the old girl was taken to sewing.

so I guess that now I don't have any excuses not to get sewing.... other that work and house reno's .......and all that.
till next time stay safe.

finally some pictures of our new "well very old" home

This is the view that I woke up to the first day that we slept over in the house! the fog was on the ground, in the paddock.
Today we have had a storm and it has been 37oc and raining. Not so nice!
here are a few more photos of our little cottage, this is the back patio,
here is the outside thunder box, LOL.... and yes we do have one inside also!
this is the front veranda..... and some of the lovely well established gardens.
this is a photo of when the chimney was removed and before we cover it in... the room that you can see through the opening will be my new kitchen and what is now the kitchen will be the new lounge  room, lots of work to do on the inside! never mind all the dust that was in the house and the many wheel barrows of concrete rubble that we removed.
